Working closely with the Somalia National Archives and other historical repositories Minbar will launch a unique digital gallery and theatre to explore and understand Somalia’s history and culture.
Somalia’s first digital theatre of art, and culture
The South African thinker and leader Steve Biko said that “A people without a positive history is like a vehicle without an engine.” After decades of conflict and even longer of poor governance Somali’s are disconnected from our past.
Without a proper understanding of where we came from and how we arrived at the present moment we will continue to pursue policies that will fail. Working closely with the Somalia National Archives and other historical repositories Minbar will launch a unique digital gallery and theatre to explore and understand Somalia’s history and culture. Using art, culture, and storytelling we will unpack the experience of past generations and the lessons of our history to help contribute to the reawakening of national consciousness and a real understanding of the way to solve our present challenges.
By making the source documents and artistic interpretations accessible digitally, including for use by radio and television services, we want to create a lasting source of information and inspiration for Somali people and to reach the widest possible audience wherever in Somalia or the diaspora they may be.
